About our Organization

Our mission

Prom is often seen as a privilege instead of a once in a lifetime moment for our teens; perpetuating excitement, boosting self-confidence, celebrating themselves, their friends and the end of high school. It's a time to experience positivity and not a time to focus on home, life, or financial situations. We are a non-profit organization advocating for under-resourced students in Fayette County, KY to experience the high school luxury that is Prom, because we believe every student is desrving of this cherished moment.

LEX Project Prom started as a family project. Created in 2010, Asona McMullen was inspired and motivated by an act of kindness her grandmother did for her high school classmate— who didn't plan on attending Prom due to financial reasons. Now, Asona, and the LEX Project Prom team, work with Fayette County Youth Service Coordinators to provide gender inclusive full prom packages with dresses, tuxedos, dinner accommodations, beauty and grooming services, free for all students who register. LEX Project Prom provides a positive memory of Prom without the burden of finances providing a chance to change a students' entire perspective of what they deserve in their lives.

Our Programs

Our annual FREE shopping event takes place each Spring and is uniquely curated for high school Seniors and their families to bond over a stress-free day of Prom planning. Unlike other dress drives, our inventory is 98% new pieces ready for first-time enjoyment. Students have a wide gender-inclusive selection of styles, colors, and accessories to complete their look. And because Prom expenses don't stop at attire, neither do our resources. Through the generosity of local businesses, sponsors and donors, we are able to cover all Prom expenses and provide scholarship opportunities for registered senior students in Fayette County.  The only qualification for our program is financial need.
